The Istanbul Convention is a powerful tool to tackle female genital cutting as a form of violence against women so we are honoured to announce that the Orchid Project, anti female genital cutting organisation, will be supporting the ICchange campaign! This why they are behind it:

‘Orchid Project is an NGO working for a world free from female genital cutting (FGC), through advocacy, awareness raising, and partnering with organisations that are ending cutting successfully.

We are supportive of the Istanbul Convention, which condemns all forms of violence against women, calls on states to recognise that FGC is a serious human rights violation, and calls on states to take ‘legislative or other’ methods to criminalise it. We are therefore pleased to support the ICchange campaign.’
