Object is pleased to support ICchange

Great news for your Monday… OBJECT, the award-winning human rights organisation which challenges the sexual objectification of women, is now supporting the ICchange campaign! Find out why below:

‘Object is pleased to support the campaign to demand that the next government, no matter who forms it, ratifies the Istanbul Convention.

Violence against women and girls is an issue that affects directly the lives of a huge proportion of the electorate and the UK must ensure that it commits to addressing these challenges in a sustainable coordinated way which addresses protection, prevention and provision. This must include investment, for the sake of our nation’s economic well-being as well as the rights of individuals to services. In spite of some progress, currently too much of this remains ad hoc, underfunded and inconsistent.

Object is an award-winning human rights organisation which has successfully campaigned against ‘sex-object’ culture since 2003. We believe that the Istanbul Convention would act as a kick-starter in encouraging the government to look seriously at media reform to ensure a free press which acts responsibly in the portrayal of women and in the reporting of rape and sexual abuse.’
