We’ve just received our supporter statement from Scottish Women’s Aid. They’re one of the top organisations working to prevent domestic abuse in Scotland, so we’re very excited to have their strong support for the ICchange campaign!!! Here’s why they’re backing it:
‘Scottish Women’s Aid is proud to support ICchange and the objectives contained within the Istanbul convention. The Women’s Aid network supports women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse across Scotland - from Shetland to the Borders and across a range of services, but we are in no doubt that preventing violence against women and children in the first place is the goal we need to work towards. We believe that nobody should live in fear, whatever their community and our ultimate aim is to make everyone safer.
We work to achieve effective responses to domestic abuse – and we work to end violence against women by tackling its root cause, which is gender inequality. We do this by:
- Promoting women’s equality and children’s rights.
- Campaigning for responses which actively prevent violence against women.
- Working to ensure that services are available to women, young people and children with experience of domestic abuse.
- Providing services and advice to our members.
