JOIN US MARCHING TO REMEMBER THE WOMEN KILLED ON SUNDAY 22nd NOVEMBER 2015
2 women are killed by a partner or ex-partner every week in the UK.
This statistic is horrifying. But we can take action to help protect women who are at risk.
We need to make sure that we take action to ensure vital services exist to support women and children in these situations.
One of the protections to services in the UK would be the Government ratifying the Istanbul Convention on violence against women. On 8 June 2012 the Government signed the Istanbul Convention, but 3.5 years later it still has not fully committed to it by law through ratifying it.
ICchange is joining the Dead Women Walking (www.deadwomenwalking.uk) march on Sunday 22nd November 2015. The march marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and this year is supporting ICchange to highlight the need for the Istanbul Convention in the UK.
“The walk will be a visual and respectful march of women wearing red ponchos and carrying candles – During the walk the names of all the women killed by known men since 8th June 2012 will be read out.”
